Liverpool beats Inter Milan

Liverpool have beaten Inter Milan by 2-0 in their Champions League last 16 first leg clash at Anfield.

The win comes after Liverpool's shock FA Cup defeat to Barnsley.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez and captain Steven Gerrard say that the team will not get carried away with the victory over 10-man Inter Milan.

The Reds lifted some of the gloom at Anfield with late goals from Dirk Kuyt and Gerrard.

Inter were forced onto the defensive early on after the first-half sending-off of former Everton defender Marco Materazzi.

Mr Benitez said: "It is a great win. But we need to play another game, so we must be careful.
