Ex-Corrie star to take on Time Lord
Ex-Coronation Street actress Sarah Lancashire is set to make a special appearance in the new series of Doctor Who.
The former soap star, who is well known for playing barmaid Raquel in Corrie, will appear alongside comedienne Catherine Tate in the first episode of the popular fantasy show.
"I'm absolutely thrilled to be in Doctor Who. It's a brilliant episode and I'm looking forward to taking the Time Lord on," Lancashire said.
Sarah will play Miss Foster, an enigmatic and powerful businesswoman, with David Tennant returning as the charismatic Doctor.
The actress will follow in the footsteps of former Coronation Street stars Bruno Langley, Thelma Barlow and Anne Reid, who have all appeared in the long-running science-fiction programme.
The new series of Doctor Who will hit TV screens next spring.
