
Soap star gets royal award

Coronation Street veteran Johnny Briggs is receiving an award from The Queen.
Briggs, 71, who retired from the popular soap after playing savvy businessman Mike Baldwin for 30 years, will collect an MBE at Buckingham Palace for his work as an actor.
Briggs was also honoured with a Lifetime Achievement gong at the British Soap Awards last year
The soap legend left the show last year because of the demanding filming schedule and so that he could spend more time at his home in Florida.
He was also honoured with a Lifetime Achievement gong at the British Soap Awards last year.
Other recipients of the MBE included rugby legend Gareth Edwards and explorer David Hempleman-Adams.
