Everton have completed the signing of striker Ayegbeni Yakubu from Middlesbrough for £11.25 million.

The Nigerian has signed a five-year contract after the Home Office granted him a work permit on appeal.

Yakubu was initially refused a work permit because he failed to play 75% of Nigeria's games in the last two years

Yakubu was initially refused a permit because he failed to play 75 per cent of Nigeria's games in the last two years.

But Everton officials argued at a Sheffield hearing, this was because he opted out of international football.

Yakubu cost Boro £7.5 million when they signed him from Portsmouth in 2005.

He has scored 35 goals in all competitions for the Teessiders.
