Former football star Diego Maradona's bank accounts are being investigated as part of a tax probe.

Authorities in Argentina are looking at all his transactions and have asked banks holding accounts in Maradona's name to hand over details.

The central bank said: "The tax authorities requested financial information on Diego Maradona and the bank has carried out that request."

He already faces tax evasion charges in Italy from his playing days there.
