'England have underachieved under McClaren'

Captain John Terry has admitted ahead of the Euro 2008 qualifier in Israel that England's misfiring stars have underachieved under Steve McClaren.

But the Chelsea centre-back has insisted that there is "a lot more to come" from him and his team-mates as they bid to get their bid to reach the finals in Austria and Switzerland back on track.

"We know we have underachieved as a group of players since Steve McClaren took over and it is only us who can do something about that" - John Terry

McClaren has come under fire after seeing his men fall three points off the pace in Euro 2008 qualifying Group E after they followed up their 0-0 draw at home to Macedonia with a 2-0 defeat at leaders Croatia last October.

And Terry said: "We know we have underachieved as a group of players since Steve McClaren took over and it is only us who can do something about that.

"We need to do our talking on the pitch and start winning things, start winning games consistently, playing well consistently."

Looking at England's position in Group E, he added: "We have to win. I don't like to see us where we are in the table. We need to win all of our next four or five games. It is down to us."
