Inquest into British soldiers' deaths

Inquests into the deaths in Iraq of two British soldiers are due to resume.

Corporal John Rigby, 24, of 4th Battalion The Rifles, was killed in a roadside bomb attack in Basra on June 22.

Lance Corporal Timothy Flowers, 25, of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, was killed on July 21 by indirect fire at Basra Palace.

Mr Rigby's commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Sanders, said: "John was one of the strongest and most distinctive characters in 4 Rifles."

Mr Flowers was attached to the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment and died from shrapnel injuries.

Lieutenant Colonel David Catmur, Commanding Officer of 2nd Royal Tank Regiment, said: "I am extremely grateful to have had such a fine tradesman in the regiment. His loss affects us all and he will be sorely, sorely missed."

Both inquests will take place at Trowbridge Town Hall, in Wiltshire.
