Pets count their blessings in Mexico

Animal lovers in Mexico have marked St Anthony's Day by taking their pets to church.
Thousands took their pets along to be blessed even though the dogs, cats and budgerigars were not allowed inside.

Father Aldo Varela said: "Through the animals we are being friends of God."
Local resident Heladio Flores says his pets are more loyal than his human friends.
He said: "Not all friends are true. But by feeding these animals and giving them everything they need - they are always with us at home, welcoming us after a day's work.
"They know who loves them, who looks after them, who bathes them."
