The 1,615 mile trek, which will take Dave 311 miles into the Arctic Circle, begins in Lindesness in the south of Norway and ends in North Cape - the northernmost point in Europe - in early April.

Dave is taking part in the challenge to raise money for the Mines Advisory Group (MAG) - a registered charity which works in war zones around the world to clear landmines and help people escape from the poverty and suffering caused by conflict.

He said: "I have never attempted anything this big before, from Lindesness to Nordkapp is a distance of over 1,615 miles.

"The route will take me over some of the most unspoilt wilderness in the world, across three countries, and over 300 miles into the arctic circle."

He will be giving regular progress reports on his website, http://www.skinorway.org.uk.
