Fergie: Berbatov will give us edge
Sir Alex Ferguson believes Dimitar Berbatov will give Manchester United the cutting edge as the title race hots up.
The United boss admitted Berbatov's arrival means he will be forced to leave other strikers on the bench as he searches for the perfect combination in attack.
But he made no apologies for making the Bulgaria international his key summer signing, saying: "I think the name of the game is to win.
"If I've got a stronger squad than last season - and hopefully I have, bringing Berbatov in - then that's the right thing to do.
"Whether it gives me 1 per cent improvement or up to 10 per cent improvement, no matter. Improvement is what we are looking for."
"The news that both Berbatov and Ronaldo have recovered from recent injuries gives Ferguson a wealth of attacking options ahead of United's clash with Chelsea on Sunday."
But the manager is unlikely to consider shelving Cristiano Ronaldo given the Portugal international's recent form.
Ronaldo stamped his authority on United's Champions League draw against Villareal after coming on as a substitute.
Ferguson said: "He was on fire, the boy. He was really revved-up to perform really well."
