The mother of X Factor runner-up Rhydian Roberts has urged her son's fans to "move on", after complaints against the show reached the 1,500 mark.

Angela, who was regularly seen supporting her son during the live shows, said the family wants to draw a line under the whole affair.

Fans of runner-up Rhydian Roberts claim the result was fixed after many were unable to get through the phone lines during Saturday night's show

She said: "We are just asking the nation to let it go and move on. The competition is over.

"We give our very best to Leon as a family and look forward to Rhydian's own career developing as it should."

It comes after fans accused ITV of fixing the result in favour of winner Leon Jackson, after many found the phone lines were jammed when they tried to vote.

But ITV said the 18-year-old Scot won the competition "fair and square" and that both contestants were "strong finalists".
