Wedding guest turns up a year early
A man has flown thousands of miles to attend his friend's wedding in Wales, only to discover he is a year early.
Dave Barclay, 34, who now lives in Toronto, Canada, working as a teacher, had been told about the wedding earlier in the year and assumed it was to take place in 2007.
Having arrived in Cardiff, he rang the bridegroom, Dave Best, to ask where the venue was, only to be told the wedding will be in 2008.
He said: "I am a year early. Yeah, my mates are loving it, aren't they.
"He just said July 6 and I assumed it was this year because if you tell the guy July 6, they're going to think it's this year," Mr Barclay said.
"At least it's assured me a mention in the speech next year," he added.
