Andrew Flintoff is poised to play for the first time in four months.
The Lancashire all-rounder is recovering from an operation on an ankle injury and he has joined up with England's second team, England Lions, for a three-day match in India.
"I am ready for a match" - Andrew Flintoff
He will not bowl but expects to bat in the middle order and perform his usual duties in the field.
Flintoff said: "It will be great to play again.
"Everything has been going well but you can only do so much net practice. I'm ready for a match.
"I'll be playing as a batsman and fielder and I think I'll be batting at number five. In fact I haven't bowled a ball since the operation. I'm still taking things steadily on that score."
