Tottenham's Wembley hero Jonathan Woodgate believes the club's Carling Cup triumph can be the start of a successful period under cup specialist Juande Ramos.

Woodgate headed the winning goal in extra time as Spurs fought back from a goal down to win the final 2-1, earning Tottenham their first trophy since 1999.

But Ramos is no stranger to cup success. He was in charge of Sevilla as they won the Uefa Cup and European Super Cup in 2006, and they won the Uefa Cup again in 2007 along with the Spanish Cup.

Less than four months after taking charge at Tottenham, he has already won the Carling Cup and Spurs are in the last 16 in the Uefa Cup.

Ramos persuaded Woodgate to move to White Hart Lane from Middlesbrough last month and the England defender is convinced there will be more trophies to come.

Woodgate said: "Hopefully we can push on from this next year. I came to Tottenham to win trophies and I have done that. Hopefully it is not going to be the last one."

Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson revealed after the game that Ramos has managed to help the players feel confident.

He said: "He sets teams up in a meticulous way. He has a confidence that he instils into the team. He makes you believe you can go out and win."
