Pete Doherty controversially enters the art world later with an exhibition of blood paintings.

His works, painted in a combination of pencil, pen and his own blood, go on display in London.

Doherty's blood paintings first caused controversy when he was pictured putting a needle into a fan's arm

The 28-year-old singer's show includes a self-portrait, landscapes and even a crucifixion and many are illustrations for his diaries, The Books Of Albion: The Collected Writings Of Peter Doherty, which are being published this month.

Limited edition prints will also be on offer, signed in pencil for around £350 or in Doherty's blood for a whopping £1,200.

Doherty's blood paintings first caused controversy when he was pictured putting a needle into a fan's arm.

Many speculated he was injecting the teenage girl with drugs, but the singer claimed he was merely extracting blood for his artworks.

The troubled boyfriend of Kate Moss caused further controversy when he was being interviewed for a German TV show with the rest of his band, Bambyshambles.

He took a syringe from his pocket and squirted the camera with what appeared to be blood, leaving even his bandmates shocked.

Pete Doherty:Bloodworks will run at Bankrobber in London's Notting Hill, for at least four weeks.
