The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Trust has called a 'black alert' - a state of emergency meant for terror attacks and train crashes.
"All the hospitals in the region are currently on black alert and the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is also experiencing very high demand" - Norfolk and Norwich University NHS Trust
In a written statement earlier on Wednesday evening, the Trust said: "All the hospitals in the region are currently on black alert and the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is also experiencing very high demand.
"The hospital is currently full and our emergency areas are at full capacity.
"We currently have ten ambulances waiting to admit patients."
The Trust has urged people with minor health problems not to go to A and E.
