Daniel Craig has said he is getting used to playing James Bond, and being typecast for the role does not bother him.

Film-makers have given the media a sneak behind-the-scenes peek of the new film, Quantum of Solace at Lake Constance in Austria, where cast and crew are shooting one of the most important scenes.

"I wanted to take what I knew of him, what I understood about the character, and just have a go at making the most fun and watchable thing that I could" - Daniel Craig

Craig is back with a license to kill after critics and cinema-goers hailed his debut in Casino Royale in 2006.

He said: "I wanted to take what I knew of him, what I understood about the character, what I understood about the films and just have a go at making the most fun and watchable thing that I could.

"There was never a sort of grand scheme to sort of grab it for myself. It was just to make the best of it."

Details of the 22nd instalment in the Bond franchise are still patchy, but rumour has it that the script is being changed on an almost daily basis. It follows on directly from Casino Royale, as Bond aims to uncover the truth about his lover Vesper Lynd, the beauty who seemingly betrayed him.

In the new film, Bond girl Camille, played by Ukrainian-born Olga Kurylenko, leads the secret agent to Dominic Greene - a member of a mysterious organisation and a ruthless businessman who is conspiring to control huge natural resources.

More than 1,300 extras in black tie and evening dresses were hired for a scene where Bond climbs the stairs of the 7,000 seat stage on the banks of Lake Constance in search of Mr Green who hides within the audience.

The villain is played by French actor Mathieu Amalric, who starred in the Oscar-nominated The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.

Producers said Quantum contains about twice as many action sequences as Casino Royale, which was praised for relying less on gadgets and special effects and making the Bond character more realistic and vulnerable.

The film is due for release in November.
