Capello to name skipper in August
England coach Fabio Capello plans to name his permanent captain before the football season starts in August.
Capello has tried Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry and David Beckham and has already cut his shortlist to two players.
He confirmed a decision will be made before the friendly against the Czech Republic on August 20.
Capello said: "I have more days more to think. I have two candidates to be captain.
"I think in August, ten days before the start of the new season."
Capello is at Euro 2008, watching all of Croatia's matches in preparation for the World Cup qualifiers, which begin later this year.
He added: "Croatia are a very strong team because they play together a lot.
"I have to know everything about them, all their secrets. I am watching their style, the set-pieces and also the movement of the team when they have the ball and when they don't."
