Bruce completes Wigan move

Updated 15.33 Fri Nov 23 2007

Steve Bruce has finally signed a contract making him the new Wigan Athletic manager but he will not take charge until next week.

Wigan thrashed out a £3 million compensation deal earlier this month to prise Bruce away from Birmingham City, where he had been in charge for nearly six years.

Bruce will travel to London to watch his new team play against Arsenal

Wigan hoped Bruce would take charge earlier this week, but the move was held up by "unforeseen circumstances".

Now those problems have been ironed out and Bruce will travel to London to watch his new team play against Arsenal in the Premier League.

However, Bruce has not been involved in training and he is not expected to sit on the bench.

Caretaker manager Frank Barlow will remain in charge.
