Boy in court over teen's stabbing

A 15-year-old has appeared in court charged with the murder of a schoolboy in north London.

Martin Dinnegan was stabbed to death outside a chip shop in Islington on Tuesday after he and his friends became involved in an argument with a group youths.

The 15-year-old, from Islington, will appear in custody at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court

The 15-year-old, from Islington, appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court where he was remanded to Thames Youth Court until Friday.

Detectives also arrested a 20-year-old man at an address in Islington in connection with the murder.

He is being held at a police station in east London and will be questioned further.

The murder is the latest in a spate of knife and gun killings of teenagers in London this month.

His death followed that of 16-year-old Ben Hitchcock, who was fatally stabbed on Saturday in Beckenham in a fight involving a group of youths who had tried to gatecrash a party.

Annaka Pinto, 17, was shot dead in the early hours of Saturday during a fight in a bar in Tottenham, north London.
