Rangers cup bid on knife edge
Rangers failed to capitalise on their home advantage as they ground out a 0-0 draw with Fiorentina.
The first leg of the Uefa Cup semi-final tie at Ibrox proved a frustrating affair for 'Gers fans.
The Italian visitors came close five minutes from the interval, with Argentinian Mario Alberto Santana denied by a fine tackle from defender Carlos Cuellar near the penalty spot.
The visitors controlled the first half and a surging run from the halfway line by Jean-Claude Darcheville - which came to nothing - was all the Glasgow side had to show for their efforts.
Things improved after the break but Rangers failed to trouble Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey.
The Light Blues' hopes of reaching their first European final in 36 years remain alive and they travel to Florence next week knowing one goal could be enough to take them through to the final in Manchester next month.
