US motorists flock to Mexico
US motorists are risking threat of gang shoot outs in Mexico to drive over the border to buy cheap fuel.
The extra demand is causing shortages at hundreds of Mexico's border petrol stations and pump attendants are struggling to keep up with dozens of vehicles lining up for fuel.
Despite daily shootouts in broad daylight, US motorists are drawn by petrol prices that are almost half the price.
Some say they can save up to $100 (£50) dollars a month by making the trip.
Shootouts have escalated since the start of the year with more than 1,400 people dying in drug violence across Mexico.
The dangers have put off tourists, but now its motorists that are flocking to the area, such is their need for cheaper fuel.
