Favourable Uefa Cup draw for British sides

David Moyes will be hoping Everton can get off to a winning start in the Uefa Cup after being paired with Ukrainian outfit Metalist Kharkiv.

And with the first leg at Goodison Park on September 20, the Merseysiders will be looking to open up a lead ahead of the visit to the Ukraine on October 4.

Premier League rivals Bolton Wanderers will kick off their second successive European campaign in Macedonia having been drawn with FK Rabotnicki.

Mark Hughes's Blackburn Rovers will be looking to get the better of Larissa with the first leg in Greece.

And Tottenham Hotspur, who made the semi-finals last season, start their campaign against Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta at White Hart Lane.

Meanwhile, Scotland's only representatives in the competition Aberdeen have been handed a tie against Ukrainian side Dnipro with the first leg at Pittodrie.
