Andy Murray is preparing to summon the bullish style of play that has catapulted him back into the top-ten world rankings as he faces Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals of the Rogers Cup in Toronto.

The British number one battled to a 6-2 0-6 6-4 win over Stanislas Wawrinka in the third round but goes into his match against Djokovic as underdog.

Third seed Djokovic, 21, is the defending champion and will be looking for his sixth straight victory against Murray, also 21, who has won only ten games in their last three meetings.

Eighth seed Murray said: "He's obviously, behind (Roger) Federer and (Rafael) Nadal, the third best player by a long way.

"He's playing very well - for me, this is probably his best surface.

"So I have to go out there and play aggressively. I can't afford to make as many unforced errors as I did (against Wawrinka) but I'm playing well and I'm back in the top 10."

He added: "I think my ranking might go up again after this week so I'm feeling confident."

Following his epic triumph over Roger Federer at Wimbledon, Rafael Nadal also has his eye on a semi-final berth, but will have to overcome the plucky Frenchman Richard Gasquet in the quarters to get there.

Should the brawny Spaniard win the tournament, he will on the cusp of usurping rival Federer's grasp of the number one spot in the world rankings, after the Swiss was disappointingly beaten by Frenchman Gilles Simon in the first round.
