Redknapp: 'England are world class'
Harry Redknapp believes England are capable of winning a major tournament after watching them beat Germany.
The Spurs boss said the injury-struck national team's impressive display on Wednesday proved there is quality in depth in the squad.
England were forced to make do without a host of stars including Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Joe Cole and Wayne Rooney, but the absences gave the likes of Tottenham's Darren Bent the chance to shine.
Redknapp was sympathetic about Bent's near miss in the second half of the friendly.
The striker should have made it 2-0 after rounding goalkeeper Tim Wiese but slipped as he let fly with a shot.
Redknapp said: "He did everything right, went round the keeper - and lost his footing."
He added: "(Germany) weren't in the same class as us the other night. I must say it was a great England performance.
"It must have done the confidence of all the players and everybody involved with the squad the world of good.
"This is the best squad of players, the best group, for many a year. This is a group that are capable in my opinion of winning a major championship."
