Becks rested after globetrotting week
David Beckham's globetrotting this week will see him sit out Los Angeles Galaxy's Major League Soccer clash with Colorado Rapids on Sunday.
The former Real Madrid and Manchester United star played all 90 minutes of his new club's 3-0 MLS derby defeat at the hands of Chivas USA on America's west coast, just 30 hours after playing in England's 2-1 friendly defeat against Germany at Wembley.
The Galaxy's general manager Alexei Lalas has already conceded that there will come a point when Beckham's body can no longer sustain his double life.
And coach Frank Yallop now decided to rest the midfielder for the Galaxy's next match this weekend.
Beckham, who has been struggling with an ankle problem since leaving Real Madrid for California, said: "I'm really disappointed to not be able to play my first match in Colorado.
"I'd love to be on the pitch with my team this Sunday, but our training staff has advised me that it would be detrimental to not only my health for this game but for the rest of the season as well."
Lalas told reporters: "While it's regrettable that he will not get the opportunity to play in Colorado this season, we have to focus on healing David's injury.
"He will rest this weekend in LA while preparing for our SuperLiga final match on Wednesday."
