The nominees for the 2008 Black Entertainment Television (BET) awards have been revealed.

Those up for honours this year include Mary J Blige, Rihanna, Chris Brown and Raheem DeVaughn.

Best Group nods have gone to the likes of Danity Kee, Gnarls Barkley, and Playaz Circle.

Blige, Mariah Carey, and Lil' Wayne will take the stage at the awards ceremony, and after a four-year break each, Usher and Nelly will also perform.

Nelly said he's excited to be part of this year's awards. "It's just that energy. I think we as black people understand that this is our awards show.

"You feel what I'm saying, and if we are going to perform hard for any awards show, we are going to definitely bring it to the one that helped put us where we're at."

The Eighth Annual BET Awards are being held in Los Angeles on June 24.
