Prince celebrates Scouts centenary

Prince William enjoyed a hot dog around a campfire as he helped celebrate a hundred years of Scouting.

The Prince, 25, watched as the Duke of Kent formally opened the jamboree in front of thousands of scouts gathered for the official opening ceremony, and later joined youngsters for a traditional outdoor lunch at the 21st World Scout Jamboree, in Chelmsford, Essex.

The Prince arrived by helicopter for the start of what the Scout Association say is the biggest event in Scouting history.

Robert Baden-Powell opened the first Scout camp on Brownsea Island, off Poole, Dorset, on August 1 1907, and youngsters from almost every country in the world - including Afghanistan and Iraq - have gathered to commemorate the event.
