Two people killed in the devastating floods sweeping the country have been named.

Sixty-eight-year-old Eric Dickinson, who sat in county courts across the West Midlands for over 20 years, was found dead in his submerged car near Pershore, Worcestershire, on Wednesday evening.

"I have been shocked by the news and pictures of the devastation caused by the severe flooding across the country" - The Queen

A pensioner who died after he was caught in rising floodwater in Sheffield on Monday has also been named as 68-year-old Peter Harding by South Yorkshire Police.

Meanwhile, the Queen has sent a message of support to those affected by the devastating floods.

She said her thoughts were with those who lost loved ones in the severe weather conditions.

In a message delivered to 11 Lord Lieutenants, she said: "I have been shocked by the news and pictures of the devastation caused by the severe flooding across the country.

"My thoughts are with those who have lost family or friends, whose homes or livelihoods have been damaged, and all those who have been displaced by these events."

Householders have been mopping up and counting the cost following the floods.

Forecasters have also warned that the picture for the rest of the week was mixed, with more showers and outbreaks of rain on the way.

Weatherman Tony Conlan said: "There will be more heavy rain on Thursday night and Friday. We are not sure exactly where it is going to hit. There could be further heavy rain anywhere.

"It will depend where the low pressure is and where the system rests but it is definitely possible there will be further heavy rain and flooding over the weekend."
