Man City suitor has more funds frozen
Manchester City suitor Thaksin Shinawatra has had more assets frozen by the Thai government.
Officials have traced an additional £310 million in assets of the former Prime Minister, who was ousted in a bloodless coup last September and has been the target of several investigations into alleged corruption and abuse of power.
A government official said these assets will now be frozen as the investigation continues into alleged corruption.
Around £800 million of Thaksin's money has been frozen by the Assets Examination Committee.
Thaksin has been ordered by police to return to Thailand from his London base to face charges that he concealed his ownership of millions of pounds worth of shares from the Thai stock exchange.
However, Shinawatra is pressing ahead with his plans to buy out Manchester City Football Club, although he does not appear to have decided on who should succeed the sacked Stuart Pearce as manager.
There has been speculation he will hand Sven Goran Eriksson the reins at the City of Manchester Stadium.
But it is understood Thaksin and his takeover team are still looking at a number of potential candidates.
