Scott McDonald scored a last-minute winner as Celtic beat the holders AC Milan 2-1 in the Champions League.

Captain Stephen McManus gave the Scottish champions the lead at Parkhead and Kaka levelled the scores but McDonald grabbed the last-gasp victory to earn Celtic their first win in this season's competition.

Chelsea fought back from a goal down to beat Valencia 2-1

Meanwhile Shakhtar Donetsk won 1-0 at Benfica in the other Group D fixture.

Chelsea fought back from a goal down to beat Valencia 2-1 in Spain. David Villa gave the home side an early lead but Joe Cole equalised and Didier Drogba grabbed the winner in the second half. In the other Group B, Schalke won 1-0 at Rosenborg.

And Liverpool suffered a shock 1-0 defeat against Marseille at Anfield.

Elsewhere in Group A, Porto beat Porto 1-0 in Turkey.

In Group C, Lazio and Real Madrid drew 2-2 in Rome and Olympiacos beat Werder Bremen 3-1 in Germany.
