Injuries hit England squad
England may face Germany without four of Fabio Capello's regular first team.
Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney were ruled out before Capello named his squad for the friendly in Berlin.
Liverpool claim Steven Gerrard will miss the match with a groin injury but he will be assessed by the England medical staff before a final decision is made.
Meanwhile, Capello's captain John Terry has a foot injury.
In the absence of Terry and Ferdinand, Gareth Barry or Frank Lampard are likely to be made captain of an unfamiliar team with Gabriel Agbonlahor and Darren Bent both in line to make their first appearances under Capello.
Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has also pulled out of the squad, so Blackburn's Paul Robinson has been recalled.
