Jamelia reveals real reason for split

R&B superstar Jamelia has revealed that she split up with her boyfriend because she couldn't stand women throwing themselves at him.

The singer said she didn't dump her Millwall star boyfriend Darren Byfield because he cheated on her but because she was sick of girls fawning all over him in clubs.

The couple announced their split last week and Jamelia moved out of the luxury Kent home she shared with Byfield.

But Jamelia seemed to be recovering well after taking to the stage with reggae star Shaggy to host the Mobo awards launch event.

When asked how she was feeling after the break-up, Jamelia kept things short and sweet with a swift answer of "perfectly fine".

The Thank You star did give hope to every ordinary man after revealing that her next boyfriend doesn't necessarily have to have superstar status.

"I don't look for people because of their popularity or anything like that. Whoever I fall in love with, I fall in love with and it could be the local dustbin man," she said.

One man who is definitely looking forward to being on the arm of the Birmingham born beauty is Shaggy, who will be presenting the Mobo Awards ceremony alongside the singer.

The Mobo awards will be handed out at a star-studded event at the O2 Arena in September.
