'Terror gang leader urged UK attacks'

The leader of a gang of trainee terrorists said he wanted to see "six or seven atrocities" before the 2012 Olympics, a court has heard.

Mohammed Hamid, 50, also allegedly praised the 9/11 hijackers as the "magnificent 15".

Woolwich Crown court later heard that the four men convicted of the July 21 failed bombings attended camps and meetings organised by Hamid.

Five men are on trial accused of links to a plot to conduct terrorist training camps in the UK. They deny the charges.

David Farrell QC, prosecuting, said the men undertook exercises during a trip to the New Forest while pretending to hold guns.

Footage of an earlier visit to the New Forest, shot by one member on his mobile phone, was shown to the jury.

It showed a group of men, and what appeared to be a young boy, undertaking forward rolls and crawling across the ground.

An undercover officer, who infiltrated the group after claiming he wanted to convert to Islam, also attended the camp.

The court was told that as well as evidence from the undercover officer and recovered mobile phone footage, police also hid a camera in the woods.

Following the trip, Hamid was allegedly overheard by an undercover police officer, as they drove past Paddington Green high security police station, saying: "Here is your terrorist, I'm here, come and get me."

Hamid, from east London, denies providing weapons and terrorist training, soliciting murder and possessing terrorist documents.

Mousa Brown, 41, also of east London, denies providing and receiving weapons training.

Kibley Da Costa, 24, from south east London, denies providing and attending terrorist training and possessing terrorist documents.

Mohammed Al-Figari, 42, from north London, denies attending terrorist training and possessing terrorist information.

Kader Ahmed, 20, of east London, denies attending terrorist training.
