Collingwood at a loss to explain England defeat
England captain Paul Collingwood has admitted that he is at a loss to explain his side's collapse at the hands of New Zealand following a rain break in their second one-day international.
Paul Collingwood's team suffered a ten-wicket defeat in Hamilton, in a match reduced to 36 overs per side after a long rain delay.
He said: "It was very poor, very disappointing. All the blokes in the dressing room are devastated at that performance.
"We had a good start and when that rain came it really took the stuffing out of us in some ways. I don't know why, I wish I could pinpoint it but from that moment on really it was a very poor performance."
England named the same team that suffered a six-wicket defeat in the first match in Wellington and they made a good start by reaching 85 for two after 15 overs.
But rain held the match up for two hours and 20 minutes and England's fluency disappeared.
Jacob Oram bowled a maiden in the first over after the restart and England were bowled out for just 158.
Jesse Ryder and Brendon McCullum batted New Zealand to an adjusted victory target of 165 without loss in 19 overs.
