"She is a good-size breeding female" - Tom Nichols

Catchers laid a trap and eventually captured the crocodile, but they found she needed to be tempted by a change of menu.

Tom Nichols said: "There is plenty of food source in the ponds themselves but we changed the bait twice so far.

"We used the chicken at first and then we put a bit of meat in and she was obviously attracted to the meat."

The crocodile can look forward to a comfortable existence on a crocdile farm.

Mr Nichols added: "There's no way in the world they'll be killing this particular animal. She's a good-size breeding female."
