Abduction mystery
Police investigating the suspected abduction of a boy seen being bundled into a car have issued a fresh appeal for information.
Witnesses reported a boy aged about nine, being grabbed, taped around the mouth and shoved into a red Vauxhall Astra-type car by a middle-aged man in Tredington Close in the Woodrow area of Redditch, Worcestershire, after 7pm on Wednesday.
Superintendent Kevin Purcell said: "Our investigations are continuing but despite extensive inquiries in the Woodrow area, we have been unable to substantiate at this stage the allegation of a child being abducted.
"However, we intend to continue with the investigation until we are completely satisfied that no child is at risk."
Supt Purcell appealed for parents to check on their children's whereabouts and for owners of red Astra cars, or similar vehicles, who were in the area at the time to contact police.
Officers also want to trace a girl who was seen at the time of the reported abduction.
Anyone with information should call police on 08457 444888 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
