Beyoncé and Shakira have climbed to the top of the singles chart from number five last week with their duet Beautiful Liar.

The track replaces Timbaland's Give It To Me which fell to three.

The Arctic Monkeys leapt from number 11 to number two with their single Brainstorm.

Indie stars Arctic Monkeys - who are releasing their hotly anticipated second album Favourite Worst Nightmare - also climbed the charts.

The Sheffield lads leapt from number 11 to number two with their single Brainstorm.

It was disappointment though for Mark Ronson whose cover version of The Smiths' classic Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before dropped from second place to number five.

But his album Version - which includes guest appearances from Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse - almost topped the album charts debuting at number two.

Ronson was beaten to the top slot by Avril Lavigne whose album The Best Damn Thing went straight in at number one and follows the success of single Girlfriend which remains at number four.
