Consumers 'not going green'
Fewer than one in three people in the UK intend to reduce their carbon emissions over the next year despite the threat posed by global warming.
Almost two-thirds of adults surveyed by energy provider Powergen believe they have done all they can to reduce their emissions.
Half of the 1,000 people questioned said it is too expensive to be more green and a similar number wouldn't know where to start.
The Scots are the most worried about climate change and most active when it comes to changing their behaviour.
But Welsh people are the least likely to change their behaviour to reduce their carbon footprint, according to the report.
Powergen has published a list of suggested energy efficiency measures including turning off lights and electrical appliances when not in use, filling kettles with less water and turning down the heating.
Powergen Retail Managing Director Nick Horler said: "Homeowners are starting to get the message about how simple changes in behaviour can be effective at reducing bills and carbon emissions.
"But as a nation we mustn't become complacent."
