One-match ban for Scholes
Paul Scholes will serve a one-match European ban after he saw red during the first half of Manchester United's 2-1 defeat in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
The former England midfielder's situation had been slightly complicated by the fact going into the match in Rome he was only one booking away from a suspension.
And there was some speculation that Scholes would be handed a longer ban after he was cautioned twice in the Stadio Olimpico by match referee Herbert Fandel.
He was booked early on for a foul on Christian Wilhelmson before receiving his marching orders just after the half-hour mark for tripping Francesco Totti.
But Uefa officials have decided that Scholes, who missed the 1999 Champions League final through suspension, will only sit out next week's Old Trafford return.
If Manchester United go through, Scholes will be able to play in the first leg of the semi-finals but will still be one caution away from another ban.
