Vaughan backs young bowlers

England cricket captain Michael Vaughan is convinced his young attack will put New Zealand under pressure in the second Test.

The first Test at Lord's ended in a draw when England ran out of time to bowl the Kiwis out.

"They are an inexperienced unit and they are getting better all the time" - Michael Vaughan

The pitches at Old Trafford are notoriously bouncy but Vaughan is convinced Ryan Sidebottom, James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Monty Panesar will cope.

He said: "We've been consistent in the past and I thought the young bowlers bowled well in the first Test. In some spells they were outstanding and in other spells they were not so great, but they're an inexperienced unit and they're getting better all the time.

"Old Trafford will be a quick and bouncy wicket, it always is, so we'll just have to see what the conditions are like before we start saying what kind of plans we'll have.

"It is usually a good pitch to bowl the short stuff on but you also have to be disciplined enough to get the ball in the right areas as well."
