Snow Patrol's Tom Simpson was released from police custody just hours before the band were due to headline at the T in the Park festival, it has been revealed.

The keyboard player was held on charges of failing to appear in court in Scotland on drugs charges shortly after performing at the Live Earth concert at Wembley stadium on Saturday.

Tom was stopped at RAF Northolt in Middlesex as he and his bandmates prepared to board a flight to Ireland, where they were due to perform at the Oxegen Festival

After being taken in for questioning by police in Uxbridge, the star was only able to play at the Perthshire festival after he agreed to appear at Glasgow Sheriff court on Tuesday.
