Calderon refuses to give up on Ronaldo
Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon is still trying to sign Cristiano Ronaldo and claims Manchester United want the biggest possible transfer fee.
Calderon insists he is not put off by comments by United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who has ruled out selling the Portugal star.
Calderon said: "This type of transfer is hard but we're going to go for it all the same.
"I suppose it's all about a manner of theirs to let us know clearly that they're not going to lower the price in any way and that if we want him we have to pay a lot more money."
United chief executive David Gill has ruled out an improved contract to persuade Ronaldo to stay and he confirmed the club does not want to sell.
He said: "The player is under contract so the strength and the rights are with Manchester United. I think we've been pretty clear all along that Ronaldo has got a contract until 2012, he's a valuable member of the team and that's the situation."
