Four steers made a dash for freedom after the truck carrying them flipped on a highway in Canada.

The cattle, which were bound for the slaughterhouse, ran wild through residential neighbourhoods in Mississauga, Ontario.

Police officers and local farmers spent four hours trying to steer them back toward a cattle truck.

One was deemed a threat to public safety after it after it charged an officer down.

They then decided to take lethal action.

The three survivors were eventually transported to the slaughterhouse.
