Britney Spears wants her kids to have a "more normal childhood" and hopes they will choose a career outside the entertainment industry.

The troubled star has given her first interview for two years and said she hopes Sean Preston, who is nearly three, and Jayden James, almost two, would avoid following in their mother's footsteps.

"I'd love them unconditionally if they wanted to. I'd just as soon they have a more normal childhood" - Britney Spears

Spears, 26, told OK! magazine: "I'd love them unconditionally if they wanted to. I'd just as soon they have a more normal childhood."

Spears was allowed extra visits with her two young sons following an agreement with her former husband Kevin Federline last month. He was granted custody of the boys in January following several high-profile incidents of erratic behaviour.

Spears has been under the conservatorship of her father Jamie for the last five months after the court put him in control of his daughter's personal and financial affairs.

He told the magazine her recent troubles had helped to improve the relationship between her and her parents.

Mr Spears said: "God has a way of taking something bad and turning it into something good. If this hadn't happened, I would never have been able to get back with my daughter and have this relationship I have with these two little boys."

Spears also said her sixth album will be out within nine months and that she has written more for it than her previous five studio albums, describing it as having an "urban" feel. "I'm writing every day, right here at the piano," she said.
