Go-ahead for 'biggest Glastonbury ever'

The 2007 Glastonbury Festival has been given the go-ahead as the event is awarded a new four-year licence.

Mendip District Council approved plans for 27,500 extra places which could see the biggest Glastonbury in history.

A spokesman said the four-year licence has been granted with conditions that will require organisers to "consult the local community" regarding future festivals.

Hundreds of thousands of people have already pre-registered for tickets with a new system using images of ticket-holders in an effort to deter touts.

This year's line-up includes The Who, Arctic Monkeys and The Killers and tickets go on sale April 1.
