How do I download the ITN Gadget?
Go to http://itn.co.uk/news/ITN123.gadget and click on the link, and this will save the file itn.gadget for you.

How do install the ITN Gadget?
Double click on the downloaded itn.gadget file and it will do it for you.

How do I uninstall the ITN Gadget?
Right click on the Windows Vista sidebar, and in the Gadget Gallery that appears click on the ITN logo and select the right hand option uninstall.

How do I know if there is a new release of the gadget available?
A message will be automatically displayed in your gadget's minimized window when a new version is available. You will be able to click on the message and you will be linked to the location of the latest release of the gadget.

How do I select a different news category?
Drag the icon from the sidebar onto the desktop and click on the spanner icon. You will be able to select a different category from the list. Each category has a different colour. Unfortunately you cannot change the colour for yourself.

How will I know if the news has been updated?
You can enable an alert to be played. Drag the icon from the sidebar onto the desktop and click on the spanner icon. You can select the type of alert, either a short animation, or a sound to be played, or both together, whenever your particular category of news is updated.

How do I change the location of the weather?
Drag the icon from the sidebar onto the desktop and click on the spanner icon. In the Weather Options Current Location: box will be the name of the current location. Highlight the whole contents of the box and start typing. The gadget will attempt to guess the name of the location you are typing. For example if you type "P", it might display Plymouth. If this isn't what you want, then carrying on typing. There are over 7000 locations stored. If you supply one that isn't known, then "Unknown" will pop up in the box, and you will have to clear the box and start again. To save the new location just click on "OK". If you select "OK" while Unknown is showing, then it will continue to use the old location.

How do I use the gadget?
Click on a headline and a new box will open up with the story. With text stories, you will be able to immediately read the story, while for video stories a short ad will be played first before the video story can be watched.

How do I navigate from story to story?
Click on the up and down arrows while the gadget is minimized. Once the gadget is maximized, these buttons are disabled and you can use the previous and next story links in the new story window that appears. Clicking anywhere outside the new story window will cause the story window to disappear and the control is passed back to the gadget itself.
